Exploring the Streets of Athens

Athens is a city that is best explored on foot. The streets are narrow, winding, and full of surprises, making it the perfect destination for street photographers. The Plaka district, in particular, is a must-visit for anyone interested in street photography. This historic district is full of winding streets and alleyways, charming old buildings, and traditional cafes and restaurants. It’s also home to the Acropolis, which is an iconic landmark that can provide an excellent backdrop for your photos.

Another area to explore is the Monastiraki district, which is a bustling marketplace full of vendors selling everything from souvenirs to fresh produce. This area is always busy and provides plenty of opportunities to capture candid shots of locals and tourists alike.

Tips for Street Photography in Athens

Use natural light

Athens is blessed with plenty of sunshine, which makes it an excellent destination for outdoor photography. Try to shoot during the early morning or late afternoon when the light is softer, and the shadows are longer.
Use a wide-angle lens

A wide-angle lens is ideal for capturing the narrow streets and alleys of Athens. It can also be used to exaggerate perspective and create more dramatic shots.
Shoot in black and white
Black and white photography is a classic style that works particularly well in Athens. The city’s historic architecture and old buildings make a very good subject for black and white street photography.
