From time to time, we will miss those places you have previously traveled to, but most of the time as much as we want to visit them back, we don’t have enough time and resources for such an idea. One place I always miss is Taiwan! To those who have been to Taiwan, I believe you are well aware about how foodie-friendly the entire city of Taipei alone. I loved eating at Ximending Night Market or at any random food stall in the street. There are a lot of places to eat Xiao Long Bao (my favorite Taiwanese food, btw!!!) in Manila, but I was able to stumble upon this new place in Shangri-La Plaza: Shi Lin.
I ate some yummy Xiao Long Bao in Taipei! Here:

So what are you going to do if you’re missing a travel destination? Look for a place where you can have a taste of the city you’re missing! I was very excited to try Shi Lin because of its xiao long bao, and also to try other dishes.
But before anything else, here are other restaurants in Ortigas area that I was able to write a review about:
SHI LIN MENU
Shi Lin has a vast selection of food in their menu, but of course I was only able to order enough for myself:

SHRIMP AND PORK WONTON SOUP

Whenever I would dine in a Taiwanese/Chinese restaurant, I would always order some noodle soup! π I’m very happy with my order because the serving was sooooo huuuuuge! You can order the soup with noodles (Php180) or without noodles (Php230).
XIAO LONG BAO

You have the option to buy the original xiao long bao in 6 pieces (Php170) or 10 pieces (Php285). It is also available in 6 pieces Truffle and Pork (Php390) and 6 pieces Crab Fat and Pork (Php265).
If I’m being totally honest with you, the xiao long bao in Shi Lin is not that bad, but I think they can always improve it. I was expecting an exploding amount of soup upon biting, but there’s almost none. π
I’ve tasted xiao long bao in several restaurants, so if you want to consider them, feel free to do so. I am recommending this one below:

Nonetheless, I was very happy with my dining experience at Shi Lin because the staff were efficient and the overall service was good. I might have not given proper justice to their xiao long bao, but I am very positive that their other menu items are good, which I would try next time! π
Do you still miss Taipei? I do, and I always do! Perhaps you’re also planning to visit (or revisit) Taipei. If yes, consider this itinerary below:
