Finally, I was able to find where to eat Indian food in Batangas, and it’s very close to where I live!
Since I moved back to Batangas because of the pandemic and because I’ve been working from home in the last two years, I have decided to explore some restaurants that exist in my hometown since I will no longer be able to have my food delivered from restaurants in Manila. It’s sad, but I bet it has saved me a huge amount of money so far considering how cheaper is the cost of living in the province compared to the capital city.
Whenever we travel back and forth from my apartment to my parents’ house, we always pass by this hole-in-the-wall restaurant with this signage:

I mean, holy shit! There’s an Indian restaurant very close to where I moved!
I was then worried about satisfying my usual cravings in the province because we don’t have a plentiful of options here compared to Manila, so it really made me very happy. I’ve been looking forward to the day that I will get to visit this place.
And then I did, finally!
Basra Indian Food House Santo Tomas: Indian Food in Batangas
One afternoon, I decided to visit the place and order some takeout food for dinner. Here’s their menu:

As I was waiting for my order, I noticed this shelf inside their place that has some stock of Indian spices.

I am so looking forward to get myself even more oriented with Indian cuisine (and btw, it’s owned by an Indian family living in my hometown, so I’m talking about 100% legit here). I might try everything in the menu gradually in the future, but for now, I needed to satisfy my craving for the classic… *drum roll* chicken biryani yay!

I suddenly missed the roti and curry dip I had back in Singapore and when I ordered in Banana Leaf back in Manila, so I also ordered mater paneer with roti.

Those were my plates, btw. I just took a photo of my food before eating them. They package their takeouts in microwaveable containers and paper cartons.

I still need to take my food photography skills more seriously. Anyhoo, I’m no longer gonna panic about where to satisfy my Indian food cravings! Bon appetite!
