AGOS BORACAY ROOMS AND BEDS REVIEW: A Cozy Hotel in Station 3

Summer is not the only time you should hit the beach, people! 😉

Since Boracay just reopened to tourists during late 2018, I couldn’t help but ‘join the hype’ aka to check how the island has improved compared to before (although I don’t have a point of comparison because it was my first time to go to Boracay, but hey, we have all forms of media to get me informed with how Boracay looks like before).

Upon going there, I see no doubt why it was hailed as the best island in the world. The White Beach in particular, is so beautiful! But let’s not ignore the other beaches, like the Bolabog Beach, which is popular for watersports activities like kitesurfing. After deciding to go to Boracay, the next thing on the to-do list will be the hotel reservation.

MY QUEST FOR LOOKING A GOOD ACCOMMODATION IN BORACAY

The Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources has accredited several hotels and hostels in Boracay, and it was really hard to choose the accommodation that will suit my needs. Hmmm lemme evaluate: this Boracay treat is a birthday gift to myself, hence I am ditching the #hostellife this time, I am going for a solo peaceful type of adventure (aka gusto kong mapag-isa type of vacation haha).

It is an option to go for hotels by the beach area, but I preferred a hotel that is located near so many establishments and by the Main Road. And that’s when I arrived at the decision to stay at Agos Boracay Rooms + Bed.

Of the so many hotels located along the Boracay Island Main Road, I chose Agos Boracay Rooms + Bed because the high ratings and good reviews at TripAdvisor.com attracted me, let alone the very affordable rates. Below are just some of the achievements of Agos Boracay I found online:

  • Tripadvisor Top 9 B&B/Inn in the Philippines
  • 4-Time Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Winner (2015-2018)
  • 4-Time Booking.com Excellence Awardee (2014-2017)
  • 3-Time Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence (2015-2017)
  • Agoda Customer Review Award (2018)
  • Agoda Gold Circle Awardee (2015)

Moreover, it is near so many establishments – laundry shops, convenience stores, restaurants, among others, and being right at the Main Road means you can just hop on an electric tricycle anytime to go wherever you want. To me it is better than walking your way along the White Beach, especially if you’re getting old and gets tired too easily (ouch!)

THE CHECK-IN PROCESS

I had an online reservation which was very efficient and convenient. You will be emailed a voucher which you have to show to the Caticlan Jetty Port because all tourists entering Boracay must show a proof of hotel reservation as per the new law. Upon climbing the beautiful blue stairs leading to Agos Hotel, I approached the Reception Counter and I was in awe when I saw this:

This is so personalized and hospitable!

Upon taking care of my check-in, I was served a cold towel and a welcome drink with Choc-Nut!

Upon ‘chilling’ at the Reception Area, I came across this heavenly corner:

There is also a bulletin where all information regarding Boracay are provided (maps, travel tips, restaurants, etc.). What I loved about this wall is that there was a part where it provided information on halal restaurants in Boracay (which inspired me to research on and write this article). After all the process were complete, I was escorted to my room.

MY ROOM!

Since I traveled alone in the island, I stayed in a Superior Double Room which has one double bed can accommodate up to 2 pax. This is perfect for my peaceful birthday vacation dreams!

Since I was considering to recommend this hotel to my friends and family, I asked if I can take a room tour of the other available rooms in the hotel.

The hotel has a very spacious overall area, especially at the Roof Deck where you can just chill, feel the breeze of the wind, and have a nice view of the island. There are tables and chairs available in case you just want to get out of your room for a while.

THE HOTEL BETWEEN TWO BEACHES

To my surprise, I didn’t know that I booked the perfect hotel that is very accessible to two major beached in Boracay. On one side, you can access Bolabog Beach, and on the other side, you can access the White Beach! So guys, you know already where to go if you want this kind of accessibility.

THE VERDICT

Booking a hotel by the Main Road is advantageous especially if you are in Boracay for more than the White Beach. At the White Beach walk, there will be no vehicle to take you from, let’s say, Station 1 to Station 3. You really have to walk. After all, the White Beach is so close to the Main Road, so it didn’t hurt when I went a little far.

In terms of accessibility to major establishments and amenities, I appreciated the location of Agos Boracay because when I needed to go to a Laundromat, I was easily able to find one. Also, when I walked around at nighttime, the streets looked so safe, well-lit, and busy. I was able to eat some street food by the road. Also, I discovered this beautiful place called Station X.

Lastly, Agos Boracay’s hospitality was the best. The staff were very well-informed about every possible question that guests may ask, which I really loved the most. I received an excellent service because the staff made sure all my needs were properly attended to. My birthday celebration was a blast because of my experience at Agos Boracay! (Kudos to Ms. Jen and all the staff!)
